November Goals

Colourful tulips

I know that everybody says this, but I can't believe it's already November! Where has 2017 gone?! It genuinely feels like it's flown by and hitting the first of the month has prompted me to kick my brain into gear so that I accomplish what I want and need to do before the month is up. I'm determined to have an actual break this Christmas rather than stressing out constantly, so I've written a few to-dos for November to get a head start.

My 21st Birthday

London skyline

My birthday began a day early this year, when Max surprised me by decorating our flat and putting my presents out on the table. Colourful bunting and heart balloons was all that I saw when I stumbled, bleary-eyed, into the kitchen, trying to process what was going on early on a Friday morning.

A Little Catch Up

I can't believe that my third and final Fresher's Week is over! The past two years of university have flown by and I've not really given them much thought, however this year I am very aware that it's my last chance to do well academically and embrace the year ahead.

Amsterdam: What I Bought

Flowers in Amsterdam
After writing my last post about what I did in Amsterdam, I thought it would be nice to write another post about what I bought. It's not a real holiday if you don't come home with at least a few souvenirs from your trip, is it? Here's what I got...

Amsterdam: What I Did

Buildings in Amsterdam

It's been two weeks since I went on holiday to Amsterdam with Max. It was such a great trip so I decided to document it and write a blog post in the style of a diary to remember what I did, and share the great places we went to.

Saying Goodbye to the Maccabees

The Maccabees playing at Alexandra Palace

Today marks a week since I saw The Maccabees for the last time. The band that I held so close to my heart for the majority of my teenage years. My favourite band and my favourite songs. This is a little diary entry to record the end of an era of the most significant music of my life to date and The Maccabees' last shows.

Sleep In A Bottle

It's one of the most annoying things when you've been waiting to get in bed all day, and the moment you do you're wide awake. Tossing and turning, getting irritated, overheating. It's so not fun. This, alongside occasional late-night anxiety is what prompted me to reorder this Deep Sleep Pillow Spray.

New Skincare

Skincare products

I've never been that into skincare. The occasional baby wipe was all that I used as a teenager (gross), and it's only in the last few years that I've actually taken it a little bit more seriously. And by seriously, I mean micellar water and a basic cleanser/moisturiser. So, not really that seriously at all!

Primark Haul

Primark bag

Since getting myself organised financially, I've really been trying to hold back when spending money. I've tried hard to only buy things that I need, and if I wanted to treat myself I've only bought things that I don't already have (so no new eyeliner if I already have some at home, etc). This has been quite hard, so when I finally got round to selling my old phone the other day I thought it was a good time to use a bit of that money to get some new stuff to make my wardrobe a little less black!

Anxiety: Feeling the Fear but Doing it Anyway

Everything is going to be okay book

I do not take anxiety lightly. I do not trivialise or romanticise it, I do not brag about it and I do not wish it upon anybody. I feel like it's necessary to state this before I delve deeper into the topic because I have witnessed many articles and videos about anxiety that turn it into a desirable or quirky trait rather than the cruel, debilitating illness that it actually is.

Plugged Marsicans gig set in Lincoln

It feels like it was only yesterday when I was writing my last blog post about live music, and here I am again, just over a month later, writing another one after seeing Marsicans.

What's on my iPhone?

Apple Macbook Pro and iPhone 6S

I'm not afraid to say that I absolutely LOVE my iPhone. I know there can be quite a lot of negativity around people who love Apple products but I genuinely think that they are better than any other phone (for me, at least) and I find that they are so easy to use.

Neon "Live" Sign

Last year, my boyfriend and I travelled to Nottingham to see Little Comets - a band I'd been listening to since I was about 15. Although it was a great experience, the support act was what left me remembering the night.

Valentine's Day Wish List

With Valentine's Day under a week away, I thought I'd share a little wish-list of things I'm currently wanting myself. All year round I have things bookmarked that I reaaaallly want to buy, so these things aren't exclusively for Valentine's Day as such. You'll see no cringy teddy bears or mix-tapes, just a lot of pretty things you can receive all year round, and it may give you some ideas of what to buy your partner (or to treat yourself!).
